The heroine, a spunky clever little girl, wanders around wonderland and embarks on a wild chase along with other with marvelous creatures, all in time for afternoon tea.
I fell in love with Carroll's story and began searching for something, a little piece of wonderland, that I could keep with me always. Yet nothing could appease me. Not bags or totes, or stuffed animals, or pens. Not mugs, or posters, or key chains, not even those toy machines where you coughed up 50 cents to grab a little plastic figure (and most of the time it was the one you hated. Curse probability). However, one day I found it. An Alice doll.
The beautiful porcelain figure look like it had stepped out of Walt Disney classic film and into a box. Disney's design was one of my favorites, and I grew almost mad in search for it online.
I found that the doll had been discontinued and it was limited to 200 hundred pieces. No wonder I couldn't find it anywhere!
My heart almost broke, that doll, with a flawless porcelain body, a sweet painted grin and wide innocent eyes that bore into my soul, was sold out forever.
I actually finally found one, a used doll for about $75 on ebay. Back then, I thought spending that much money on a doll was absolutely preposterous. I would never pay that much money, and firmly believed no one else would either. But it was bought and shipped off, and I never found another replica ever again.
I never got closure from letting that doll slip from my fingers, it left a feeling of irritation and annoyance for a long time.
Well, as you probably guessed, I found it once again on ebay. (Keep in mind this was almost 3 years later. Also, thank god for ebay) This doll was new and still in the box, priced at $115 not including shipping. Yes, the original price of the doll may have been 25 bucks in 2005, but in 2013 it was worth it's weight in gold, at least to me.
The hunt was over, I had finally... Found Alice.
